Biography.

Mei Shibata is an award-winning artist whose lifelong exploration of color, light, and perception has been shaped by her multicultural background and multidisciplinary career. Born in Tokyo, educated in Boston, and with art studios in New York and Nice, Mei has painted since youth, earning early recognition when she won 1st place in the National Peace Poster Competition and had her work was exhibited and sold by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Her academic studies in physics and medicine inform her understanding of how the brain interprets hue and light, adding a subtle intellectual depth to her vivid, contemporary compositions. Alongside a long career leading creative and strategy teams in major advertising agencies and in her own firm, Mei has maintained a sustained studio practice that unites scientific insight, cultural influence, and decades of visual experimentation. Her work has received numerous awards across fine arts, design, and storytelling, reflecting a mature artistic voice grounded in both experience and innovation.
